Governor Jeff Landry recently signed into law pro-sportsmen bills that protect conservation funding, allow for the use of dogs to track wounded deer, and expand protections against hunter/angler harassment on all state-owned land. 

Connecticut House Bill 5114 sought to establish an 11% excise tax on ammunition and dedicate funds towards a community gun violence intervention and prevention program. CSF took immediate action opposing the bill and submitting testimony encouraging its demise.

Last week, the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission, in cooperation with NOAA, convened the first of two scheduled workshops to address the highly variable and often inaccurate estimates of recreational catch provided by the current MRIP program.
