U.S. Forest Service Withdraws National Old-Growth Amendment

 

CSF is hopeful that the U.S. Forest Service will now focus its limited resources on increasing the pace and scale of forest restoration to improve wildlife habitat and support the outdoor sporting traditions of the millions of sportsmen and women that recreate on federal public lands.

FWS Announces Grizzly Listing and Management Proposal

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced on Wednesday January 8, 2025, that grizzly bears would remain listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act in the lower 48 states, including the recovered Greater Yellowstone and North Continental Divide Ecosystems populations.

Fish and Wildlife Management Authority in the Crosshairs as North Dakota’s Session Convenes

North Dakota has kicked off their legislative session. With its start came one of the first troubling bills of the year in the form of an effort to prohibit the North Dakota Game and Fish Department from adopting or implementing policies on baiting, or supplemental feeding, for hunting big game animals on private land.

 

2024 Louisiana Black Bear Season Ends in Success

The 2024 Louisiana bear hunting season, which ran from Dec. 7th – 22nd and was the first since the late 1980s, ended in success with 10 hunters filling their tags.
