Want to participate in the Friday Individual Activities?
Don't forget to add the activity you want at check out!
Post-Summit Optional Activity Descriptions:
Montana is a very large state, and many activities will take place outside of Bozeman. For those participating in the Friday individual activities, we suggest you stay an extra night and fly out on Saturday, December 3rd.
Walk and Wade Fly Fishing on the Gallatin ($100 per person) - Come fish on the world renown Gallatin River, one of Montana's premier freestone rivers. Winter fishing on the river generally offers ample walking and wading opportunities to cast your fly with minimal angler competition. Come prepared for cold temperatures and so long as the weather cooperates, we will be sure to have a great afternoon!
Participants are responsible for: Purchasing a fishing license. Warm clothes and waders. Tackle and gear will be provided. (Local fishing shops in Bozeman will have rentals available, if need be.)
Goose and Duck Hunt - ($150 per person) - Join Absaroka Beartooth Outfitters for a Goose and Duck hunt! In just five minutes from Big Timber, you will have access to five miles of Yellowstone riverfront with brush and cottonwood trees, lots of water and channels. This landscape provides the perfect home for waterfowl! Hunters will depart the hotel at 5:00 am on December 2 for the one-hour drive to Big Timber. We expect to return to Bozeman by 7:00 pm. This will allow for both a morning and afternoon shoot providing a full day to reach the daily limit of 4 Geese and 7 Ducks.
Participants are responsible for: 12 ga shotgun with a 3" chamber. Warm camo clothing, gloves, hats and outerwear. Licenses will be required. If you plan to take birds back with you, please come prepared to process and package your birds. (otherwise, the birds will be donated to the food bank.) This is a field hunt so waders are not needed.
Long Range Shooting ($250 per person) - Are you a good shot with a rifle? How confident are you at 100 yards? What about 500 yards? 1000 yards? Hone your long-range shooting skills at Tactic MT where you will spend the first part of the day in the classroom learning all the needed skills from professional. After you will be able to put these skills to use at their 1,000 yard range. Once you get comfortable shooting steel targets at 1,000 yards those 200-300 yard shots at deer and elk will seem like chip shots. All skill levels and experience welcomed and encouraged. Firearms and ammo will be provided.
Participants are responsible for: Ear and eye protection. Note pad. Warm jackets and pants; waterproof or water-resistant gear, sturdy boots are recommended.
Marten Trapping and Relocation ($75 per person) - Join us for an incredibly unique and educational experience as we join Montana Trappers Association; National Trappers Association; Furtakers of America; and Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks on a marten trapping and relocation project in the famous Paradise Valley. During this excursion you will be participating in the behind-the-scenes science that makes the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation the most successful in the world, while learning about the species, and the importance of the trapping community in conservation. Participants will also have significant wildlife viewing opportunities of wintering elk herd, big horn sheep, and more. When the tour ends, participants will be a mere 20 minutes away from Yellowstone, 25 minutes from Mammoth Hot Springs and more to further explore Montana.
Participants are responsible for: Snow gear (gloves, hats, winter footwear, winter jacket, etc.) Binoculars and a camera are also suggested for wildlife viewing.
Yellowstone Safari Tour ($250 per person) - While winter may bring cold temperatures, snowy days and a resounding stillness to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, it is also undoubtedly one of the most exciting seasons to go on a wildlife safari. Yellowstone in winter is an extreme, exclusive place. Of the 300 miles of road in the Park, only 50 miles are open to regular vehicles between the months of November to April. A private, full-day winter tour with Yellowstone Safari Co. focuses on this region, the spectacular Northern Range between Mammoth Hot Springs and Cooke City Montana, where some of the best wildlife viewing in North America can be found. Limited to 10 participants.
Participants are responsible for: Layers, warm jackets and pants; waterproof or water-resistant gear, sturdy boots, and binoculars (if you wish).
Pheasant Hunt ($200 per person) – Come hunt pheasants at Sanborn’s Fish Kreek Ranch! The method of this hunt will be a put and take style and you will hunt over dogs. Just outside Whitehall MT, this is a 1200 acre preserve sitting alongside the Jefferson River allowing you to flush pheasants while taking in Montana's beautiful landscape. Limited to 8 participants.
Participants are responsible for: Their own shotguns and ammo, hunting license, and appropriate hunting attire
