Montana Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus (Caucus) members work in a coordinated effort to protect and promote sportsmen’s traditions in Montana. The Montana Sportsman Caucus Leadership incudes: - Senator Bob Brown

- Representative Paul Fielder
The Montana Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus is one of 50 state sportsmen’s caucuses that collectively make up the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC). NASC provides the foundational structure necessary to protect and advance hunting, angling and recreational shooting, trapping, and professional fish and wildlife management in state capitols which is critical to the successful advancement of pro-sportsmen policies across the nation. To support the NASC network and respective state Caucuses, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation provides dedicated staff members to facilitate Caucus administration, education, events, and policy discussions. When signing on to join the Montana Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, members must agree to protect the right to hunt, fish, recreational shoot, and trap for present and future generations of Montanans. Now nearly halfway through Montana’s 68th legislative session, Caucus members have worked together to pass legislation that would: improve hunter ethics and safety (HB 243); Constitutionally protect current means and methods for hunting, fishing, and trapping (HB 372); require that, once delisted, grizzly bears be managed sustainably in Montana (SB 85); and improve hunter access (SB 58). In order to make educated decisions on legislation that is important to Montana’s outdoor sporting community, the Caucus looks to the Advisory Council for perspective, insight, and recommendations. The Montana Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus Advisory Council is made up of 11 voting and 2 non-voting representatives from diverse groups and includes: Seat Name Organization Big Game Marcus Strange Montana Wildlife Federation Big Game Brian Solan Montana Wild Sheep Foundation Big Game Ryan Bronson Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Waterfowl Ryan Taylor Ducks Unlimited Upland Bird Jeff Darrah Montana Sportsman for Fish and Wildlife Trapping Matt Lumley Montana Trappers Association Outfitting Mac Minard Montana Outfitters and Guides Association Cold Water Fisheries Clayton Elliott Montana Trout Unlimited Warmwater Fisheries Bob Gilbert Walleyes Unlimited Recreational Shooting Jason Dawson Defiance Machine Landowner Hannah Downy Property and Environment Research Center Ex officio Deb O' Neill Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Ex officio Ellary TuckerWilliams Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation Intern Tucker Jones Montana Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus |
