Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus Takes Aim During Annual Clays Competition May 10, 2022 (Washington D.C.) – Today, nearly 20 members of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) - the largest bipartisan caucus on Capitol Hill – gathered with industry partners and members of the sporting community for a fun and friendly afternoon of sporting clay, trap, and skeet shooting competition. Kicking off at 10:00 a.m. with registration and warm-ups, the bipartisan shooting competition continued throughout the afternoon and featured lunch and a “bragging rights” ceremony. Hosted in Prince George’s County, only a stone’s throw from Washington D.C., this annual event brought together CSC members on both sides of the aisle to fraternize, enjoy the great outdoors, and crown the champion of clay busting. Team Republican, captained by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC), won this year’s competition against Team Democrat, captained by Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI), with a score of 251-195. “Enjoying our bipartisan sporting heritage at events like the clays competition gives everyone a much-needed respite from the often polarizing world of Congressional politics. Unlike any other event in D.C., the clays competition provides an opportunity for Members of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus to share their passion for recreational shooting and the outdoors with their colleagues on Capitol Hill, strengthening the uniquely bipartisan CSC. Because of our great partners and our industry allies, days like today are possible,” said Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) President & CEO Jeff Crane. Already in 2022, CSF has been proud to see CSC led priorities advance on Capitol Hill including the signage of the MAPLand Act into law and the passage of Recovering America’s Wildlife Act through the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and House Natural Resources Committee. The Congressional Clays Competition comes on the heels of March’s CSF Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus Leadership Dinner and will be followed in June by the Congressional Fishing Competition. In hosting these events, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation seeks to help educate elected officials about pressing sporting issues, encourage cooperation across the aisle, and celebrate legislative wins.
